Reporting a side effect?
If this is a medical emergency, call 911 now.

Do not wait to fill out a form. Trouble breathing, chest pain, swelling of the face or throat, severe bleeding, fainting, or a sudden severe reaction all mean emergency care, right now.

Reporting a side effect

If you are not in danger but something is wrong, reporting it matters. Side effect reports are how new risks get discovered. Here is where to send yours.

// First

Tell your doctor or pharmacist

They can tell you whether to stop the drug, adjust it, or treat the reaction. They can also file a report for you. Do not stop a prescription on your own without talking to them first.

// Then

Report it to the FDA

MedWatch is the FDA’s reporting program. Anyone can file, you do not need a doctor, and reports from patients carry real weight. This is the same system that has pulled unsafe drugs off the market.

Go to FDA MedWatch ↗

// Also

Tell the manufacturer

Every drug maker is legally required to run an adverse event line and pass reports on to the FDA. The number is on the drug’s page here, and on the package insert. Find your drug and look under Safety.

AIPatientSupport does not collect, receive, or forward side effect reports. We point you to the people who are equipped to act on them.
